0. Starting point: the idea
For this particular order, the client had a very clear idea (An afro-cubism inspired piece that describes a romantic relationship between him and his Persian partner) and helpful reference images
If the client has a less developed thought in mind, I like to take the time to meet with them and explore the possibilities until a clear idea has been reached.
1. Rough sketch
After making the first draft of my subjective conception of the customer’s idea, the first feedback cycle starts.
Fortunately, in this case, the client was happy about this and gave me green light to continue.
2. Colouring
Similar feedback cycles are set for the colouring phase. These continue until the client is satisfied. Throughout this step of the process, changes in the lining and overall design are still possible
3. Finalizing
As an optional step, this includes texturing and reworking colour balance.
